KICKING HORSE, GOLDEN, BC, Canada – February 15, 2024: The anticipation is building as the second stop of this season’s FWT by Peak Performance is set to unfold in the stunning setting of Kicking Horse, Golden, BC. With organizers giving the green light for competition to take place this Thursday, February 15, athletes and fans alike are gearing up for another thrilling display of freeride skiing and snowboarding.
Despite the challenges posed by Mother Nature, cold temperatures have preserved the snow in optimal condition, promising ideal conditions for competitors to showcase their skills under the backdrop of clear blue skies. As the North American leg of the tour prepares to kick into high gear, anticipation is running high for an action-packed event.
This marks the second opportunity for athletes to accumulate points before the mid-season cut, and the competition is expected to be fierce. Reigning champions and rising stars alike will be vying for supremacy on the slopes of Kicking Horse.
Núria Castán Barón and Victor de Le Rue, current leaders in the Snowboard Women and Snowboard Men categories respectively, will be aiming to solidify their positions atop the rankings. With de Le Rue having tasted success on the Kicking Horse terrain in 2019, all eyes will be on him to deliver another standout performance.
Meanwhile, in the Ski Women’s category, Zuzanna Witych will look to build upon her triumphs in Verbier and maintain her lead in the rankings. In the highly competitive Ski Men’s category, the battle for supremacy is wide open, with past champions Kristofer Turdell and Maxime Chabloz among the contenders vying for glory.
While the stage is set for an exhilarating competition, some notable absences and challenges add intrigue to the event. 2023 World Champion Justine Dufour-Lapointe will be absent for personal reasons, while other Canadian contenders seek redemption after a challenging outing in Verbier.
Thursday’s competition will take place on T1 South, a decision made due to sub-standard conditions on the Ozone Face. With a consistent snowpack and favorable weather conditions, T1 South promises to provide the ideal backdrop for the world’s best freeriders to showcase their talent.
Adding to the excitement, Jay Rawe will make history as the first sit-skier to participate in FWT competition. A pioneer in his discipline, Rawe’s inclusion underscores the spirit of inclusivity and determination that defines the FWT community.

The event will be broadcast live starting at 10:15 am MST – 6:15 pm CET, with viewers around the world invited to tune in and witness the action unfold. Whether watching in person or from afar, fans can expect an unforgettable display of athleticism and skill.
